Stache Bash on Rapid Growth!

check this out! we were featured in Tommy Allen's section on Rapid Growth!

"Stache Bash, No. 2 – It’ll Tickle You In A Good Way
DAAC / Mixtape
115 & 133 S Division
Friday, April 10, 7 PM
G-Sync

Every time I hear the word 'stache, I conjure up images of ‘70s masculinity embodied in television stars like Tom Selleck. If you are driving down Division Avenue on Friday night, you might be tempted to wonder if the '70s have returned with a vengeance as the hip crowd seems to be replaced with moustache sporting folks filing into the DAAC and Mixtape.

No worries: it's not the return of Magnum P.I. fashion, but Stache Bash, No. 2.

This 2nd year fundraiser organized by the Kendall College of Art and Design’s student chapter of the AIGA will seek to raise money for Blandford Nature Center’s Mixed Greens. The night is full of diverse programming that will include an art exhibition "Trimmings: Art for the Facialite" featuring locally inspired works, bands like Firejumper and Empire! Empire! I was a Lonely Estate and a photo booth provided by the Kendall Photo Association to document the virile attendees.

Aside from that night's ribbing, mustaches are very cool and present an individual mystique to those who sport them. “Facial hair is such an amazing identifying feature on a person's face,” says Stache Bash co-creator Victoria Marcetti, “and we like all the ways people can express themselves…in a goofy way.”

In addition to the Stache contest, Marcetti and her event partner Brandon Satterlee will welcome to the bash Beardcore – a local initiative started by Jeremy Rush celebrating, of course, the beard.

Women (and facial hair challenged men like me) are also encouraged to get in on the fun by creating fake staches or for some ladies, they can just skip the waxing and go au naturel.

Admission: DAAC – Free / Mixtape - $10 with 100% proceeds going to Mixed Greens"

Hope to see you all there!

Threadless Text Challenge

Up for a design challenge?
Following two successful runs within the community, and through the tireless efforts of users martiandrivein and staffell, we’re now proud to fully support the third installment of... The Joy Of Text! Your challenge is to create and manipulate text in a way that it becomes the design, rather than just being a part of it.

Your awesome textual design could net you an opportunity to design two upcoming TypeTees, a Wacom Intuous Tablet, some great Blik gear, a huge lot of Stop Smiling magazines, AND a wealth of community donated items!!

If you have something to say… DESIGN IT!
